| The
bay is limited by the Portitxol Cap Prim north and the south Cap Negre,
which protect it from the winds of the first and second quadrant. The
stretch of coastline comprising the Bay, along with the nearby island
of Portitxol is one of the most interesting ecological and landscape of
Xàbia. The geological composition of this bay determines its particular
physiognomy. Its northern part is composed mostly of marls and clays,
which contrast strongly with the rest of the coastline Xàbia, consists
primarily of limestone. The characteristics of these materials easily
eroded, making the cliffs of the bay Portitxol not reach a great height
and have at its base a large accumulation of rock block along the
coastline. The colors of the cliffs, and gray shades of yellow,
contrasting with the blue of the sea, resulting in landscapes of great
beauty. Given the importance of vegetation in this area, the Valencian
Government established in May 1999, two micro flora in Cap Prim and
beach Portitixol or barracks. At the southern end of the bay, the
landscape changed again due to the limestone composition of the Cap
Negre, featuring impressive vertical walls on the sea and where you can
find numerous underwater caves and crevices. Since the scale of the
Barraca vision is dominated by the island's Portitxol, located a few
meters from shore. This pebble beach pebbles and you can observe marine
communities of high ecological interest, such as formed by the brown
alga Cystoseira Mediterranean clear indicator of good water quality. |
