Sports and activities in Denia

Windsurfing and kite surfing

Dénia is one of the best place for windsurfing and kite surfing in Spain.With the hot winds el Garbí, el Llebeig,... with wind speeds of 3.5 to 7, ideal conditions to ride the waves.

A windsurfing school is located on the beach "Els Molins" (area of Las Marinas), in the zone, which is generally known as Nova Dénia. Also the beach of “Playa de les Deveses" can be recommended for windsurfing and kite surfing. Access to the sea is designated by buoys.

Jet-Ski

On the beach of Albaranas (Las Marinas) is?a booth where you can rent jet skis or?can book a Jet Ski trip. Also in the harbour La Marina Denia there are a variety of shops and offices where you can rent a private personal watercraft, and tours with a guide. If you have your own jet ski,?you can let your jet ski to water, always taking into account the marked spots to do so on the following beaches:

Diving

Thanks to the diversity of flora and fauna on the seabed along the coast of Dénia scuba diving is one of the top sports. The rocky coves in the area of Las Rotas and the cliffs at Cape San Antonio are an ideal dive zone, which was declared by the varieties found on the seabed as a marine reserve. Within the marine reserve you can dive only with special permission.The number of permits that may apply to the Tourist Info Denia (Tourist Board) is limited for each day.

Road and mountain bike

Denia and the Costa Blanca are known for both the professional cycling, as for amateur cyclists and mountain bikers getting more and more famous and popular. The mild winter climate attracts many cycling clubs to train their miles here. Denia has developed many new routes for cycling. The routes can be found on various websites on the internet and in the tourist office in Denia. The wonderful landscape and climate make it a unique place to enjoy the bike.

Natural park Montgo

The mountain Montgo and its surroundings were declared officially a Natural Park in 1987 for its beautiful views, plants and wildlife.The mountain has an altitude of 753 meters, and offers more than 600 plant species. Among them, especially types of Hermes, the lavender, samphire, the Valencia rock violet, black juniper and saw palmetto. The wildlife has a variety of bird species such as the Audouin- traditional gull or seagull, various species and birds raptors Rabe hawk eagle, a pair of owls, kestrel and peregrine falcon - as well as reptiles, amphibians and mammals such as the dormouse with glare, rabbits, badgers, genets and many others.

The river Riu Gorgo with a lot of mediterranean plants at the foot of Montgo.

You can hike through the (PR V 152) or the "Green Route". All these routes are signposted from low to medium difficulty. Discover the caves "Cova de Aigua" or "Cova del Camell", walk to the top of the Montgo, from where you can enjoy wonderful panoramic views, experience nature with the sea and its background.


Shopping in Denia

Everything you need! It's worth going through the markets, weekly small markets and small shops in the streets of Denia. There you will find many items at a good price, from fresh fruits and vegetables to antiques and handicrafts. Go to the Dénia market to buy meat and fresh fish, visit the weekly market on Mondays and on Fridays you can experience the antique market. When visiting the port pass through "Esplanade Cervantes" to see the little shops on the street, buy fresh fish in the harbour at auction or just passing through Denia stores, where you can find a large variety of products.

Market in Denia

The market at the center (Calle Magallanes) is open from monday to saturday from 7am to 2pm. Fruits, vegetables, meat, fish, pastry, coffee, etc. 
Sale infront of the market: 
Fridays : Fruits and vegetables.
Mondays : general food. 

At the fish market auction (port of Denia) which takes place between 3:30pm and 6:00pm when the boats moor in the harbour. You can find a wide variety of seafood and Dénia red prawn, lobster, sea urchins and many more seafood; octopus, anchovies, squid, whole fresh fish in nearby areas.

Fish selling

Monday to friday from on 5pm throughout the year. Normally fishing is prohibited from the 1st of June to the 3rd of July. During this season the auction will be in the auction fish market at 2pm, the fish offered at the auction has been caught by small fishing boats that are not prohibited during this season.

Bazaar

Torrecremada: Fridays from 9am to 1pm. The bazaar offers antiquities and much more. 

Bazaar at spring and summer : Harbor promenade "Esplanada Cervantes". From 7pm to midnight (Until 1am from monday to saturday and holidays) From on middle of march to beginning of June during the weekends and holidays. During the summer every day (Middle of June to middle of September) Several small shops with fashion jewelry, paintings, leather and other handicrafts.
